Challenge
-
Cybersecurity workers protect the most important and private information, from bank accounts to sensitive military communications.
However, there is a dangerous shortage of cybersecurity workers in the United States – out of 128,000 Information Security Analyst openings, only 88,000 are filled. This serious talent shortfall – around 40,000 workers – puts digital privacy and infrastructure at risk. Lightcast challenged infogr8 to find a way of using data to help close these cybersecurity talent gaps.
Solution
-
infogr8 partnered with CompTIA and Lightcast to design and develop an interactive experience that brings clarity to the US cybersecurity job market.
We created two core tools:
-
Interactive supply & demand map
A nationwide view of cybersecurity job demand, workforce size, and supply-demand ratios by state and metro area. Users can explore key metrics including job postings, workforce availability, and location quotient — all surfaced through an interactive map and dashboard. -
Cybersecurity career pathway explorer
A dynamic tool that maps key cybersecurity roles from entry-level to advanced. Each role is visualised as a bubble, revealing salary insights, job openings, required skills, and typical career transitions.
Together, the tools help jobseekers, educators, and policymakers navigate a complex landscape with data-led clarity.
